Paul Pogba is reportedly making a big comeback to football after agreeing to a two-year deal with Monaco, NaijNaira can report.
According to French outlet Le Parisien, Pogba accepted a significant pay cut to secure his return to the pitch.
Pogba had been banned for doping in 2023 after testing positive for DHEA, a testosterone-boosting substance on WADA’s banned list.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed Pogba took the substance by accident, stating it primarily affects female athletes.
His suspension, originally set at four years, was later reduced to 18 months, officially ending earlier this year.
Pogba has not played professionally since September 2023 but has been sharing his intense training sessions online to keep fans updated.
Reports claim Pogba visited Monaco in early June to finalize personal plans, including finding a new home, personal driver, and security team.
Sources say discussions between Pogba and Monaco lasted several days before they finally reached an agreement on Sunday.
Monaco will compete in next season’s UEFA Champions League after finishing third in Ligue 1 behind Marseille and PSG.
Interestingly, Pogba has never played in France’s top league despite his 91 international caps and a World Cup win with France in 2018.
The former Manchester United and Juventus star spent time this week training in Florida with United’s Leny Yoro and Kobbie Mainoo.
Pogba wore a vintage Juventus shirt during the intense session, fueling excitement over his long-awaited return to football.
