President Bola Tinubu and his legal team, led by Wole Olanipekun, SAN, have objected to the presentation of information extracted from the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used during the February 25 presidential election.
The objection was raised during the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting, where the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenged the outcome of the election.
Atiku presented documents from 33 states, excluding Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Lagos, which were duly cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after payment of necessary fees.
However, INEC opposed the admissibility of downloaded election results, except for the printout of data from BVAS it deployed to three states- Kogi, Sokoto, and Rivers.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) also supported President Tinubu’s objection.
Despite the objections, the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led panel admitted the BVAS documents into evidence and marked them as Exhibits PT 1 to PT 33.
Atiku also presented results of the presidential election from Abia, Bayelsa, Kaduna, and Ogun states, which were admitted as evidence by the panel.
