The Presidential Transition Council has begun its preparations for the handover of power from Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to his successor.
On Friday, Confirmation came when a joint briefing was held between Ministry of Defense officials and members of the Transition Technical Task Team.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Kana assured that it’s mandate had been completed and a roadmap prepared so the new leader will be ready to quickly start their administration.
The council is tasked with overseeing the security of the President-elect, providing them with fully furnished offices and personnel and coordinating briefings on security matters post-election.
It is also responsible for organizing the swearing-in ceremony at Eagle Square in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination Dr Habiba Lawal serves as Secretary of the Presidential Transition Council while Federal Transition Coordinator will be appointed in August 2022 according to Executive Order No 14 of 2023.
