Dmitry Medvedev, a top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has predicted that the war in Ukraine could last for decades, with intermittent periods of fighting and truces.
Medvedev, who was visiting Vietnam, stated that as long as the current power structure remains in place, the conflict will continue to repeat itself.
He also reiterated Moscow’s claim that Ukraine is a Nazi state.
Meanwhile, on the frontlines, Russia’s Wagner mercenaries have begun handing over positions in Bakhmut to the regular Russian military, although Ukrainian officials claim that Wagner fighters remain inside the city.
Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has stated that he is prepared to return his forces to Bakhmut if the regular army struggles.
