The National Association of Seadogs, Pyrates Confraternity (NAS) has distanced itself from claims made in regards to a recent viral video targeting one of the 2023 presidential candidates.
The NAS Capoon, Mr Abiola Owoaje stated that the video does not reflect the opinion or position of the organisation and has not come from an authorised representative.
He made clear that as part of a responsible organisation, they are for advocating for good governance without escalating policy.
In a further statement, Owoaje aims to relight their vision on political impartiality and taking direct action within communities instead.
From their founding 70 years ago, they have never been politically affiliated or had any preferred candidate in any political elections, with members belonging to various political parties and having freedom to support whichever candidate they impose.
To fight against military dictatorship and promote democracy throughout Nigeria, many members have sacrificed through being hounded into exile and imprisonment, losing business and employment opportunities as well as having their families terrorised by law enforcement.
In response to this video and its cruel take on electorial matters, NAS put out their official stance via press release denouncing it as clickbait material which seeks only economic mileage through deliberate false information about the organisation.
