The All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP) have all expressed their intentions to contest the upcoming bye-election for the Surulere Federal Constituency in Lagos State.
The seat became vacant following the death of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila’s mother, who represented the constituency.
The APC has denied reports of an anointed candidate, stating that the party will follow due process in selecting a candidate through a primary, with the members of the party in the constituency deciding who gets the ticket.
The PDP and LP have also stated that they will field candidates and conduct primaries if necessary.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to announce a date for the bye-election.
