Real Madrid’s interest in Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku has been reported, with the Spanish giants said to be ‘considering a move’ for the Belgian striker.
Lukaku was sent on loan to Inter Milan last year for £97m, but his second-stint has failed to meet expectations and Inter will not be keeping him; CEO Giuseppe Marotta earlier this week confirmed that he will be returning to England at the end of his loan period.
As such, Madrid are reportedly interested in potentially signing Lukaku come summer transfer window.
Fichajes claims they appreciate his abilities when fit and might pair him up with Karim Benzema, who hasn’t scored many LaLiga goals this season (11).
Despite this, Lukaku has only managed 3 league goals and 2 Champions League ones so far at Inter; an indication of fitness issues that have seen him unable to show off his best football yet.
This led Marotta to comment that the statement made by club concerning Lukaku’s future was final – ‘He’s still not at his best or the player we got to see in years gone by’ – after which he’ll go back to Chelsea on June 30th regardless of how well he plays.
Before Inter, the former Manchester United man had scored 47 goals in 72 games during his first stint here, helping Inter win the Scudetto as late as 2020-21.
