The brother-in-law of Real Madrid and Brazil forward Endrick, Mauricio Nunes Goncalves was shot dead on Christmas Day in Samambaia, near Brasília.
Goncalves was reportedly shot multiple times in the head while trying to escape a targeted gun attack at a street bar.
Witnesses stated there was no prior altercation between the victim and the gunman.
Police have not made any arrests but are actively investigating the murder.
Goncalves was the brother of Lavinia Sudre’s partner, Endrick’s older sister.
In the wake of the tragic event, Sudre changed her Instagram profile picture to a black ribbon and posted a photo of Goncalves with a heartfelt caption, “You left beautiful memories in our hearts that we will never forget.”
The funeral was scheduled for the following afternoon.
Endrick joined Real Madrid in July 2024 after turning 18 and made his debut in August, scoring in a 3-0 win against Real Valladolid.
Despite his potential, he has struggled for a regular spot in the first team, due to competition from stars like Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappé, and Rodrygo.
This has led to rumors about his future, with Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus reportedly interested in a loan deal, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
