The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has announced itself as the leading alternative to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a media briefing held in Port Harcourt, Leadership News quoted ADC state spokesperson Chief Luckyman Egila saying the party is focused on national recovery, not just political gain.
“To the people of Rivers State, we declare: the ADC is now the undeniable third force and the only credible alternative to the sinking ships of the PDP and APC,” Egila said.
He confirmed that ADC will soon begin town hall meetings, grassroots mobilization, and stakeholder forums to outline its development roadmap.
Meanwhile, in Niger State, the ADC gained momentum as Umaru Shuaibu, a key APC figure and former CPC chairman, defected to the party.
Speaking via phone, Shuaibu revealed he quit the APC due to what he described as a betrayal of the party’s founding philosophy.
“My decision is not personal, but due to the loss of trust in the stewardship of the APC government,” he stated.
He criticized the Tinubu administration for removing fuel subsidy without broad consultation, calling it a “hopeless agenda.”
Shuaibu also said that original CPC and other legacy bloc members have been sidelined within APC’s leadership structure.
He added, “Marketing the APC to Nigerians for any future election has become nearly impossible.”
