Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has declared that he is ready to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo for the Golden Boot in the Saudi Arabian Professional League.
Ighalo joined Al Hilal FC in January 2022 and has quickly become one of the league’s most fearsome strikers, having secured 24 goals last season and currently being third on this season’s chart with eight strikes.
Despite the competition of Portuguese ace Ronaldo, who recently signed for Al Nassr and scored a brace against an All-Stars side during a friendly game earlier this year, Ighalo said he will remain focused on his team rather than worrying about his new opponent.
He expressed respect for Ronaldo and believes that if he does his job at Al Hilal, then the outcome can be seen at the end of the season.
Though Ronaldo may not be able to close in on Ighalo this time round as it nears its halfway point, next season will definitely see a tougher fight between these two powerhouses of attacking prowess.
