Sheriff Oborevwori Biography
Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, born on June 19, 1963, is a Nigerian politician who has held various positions of leadership in Delta State.
He served as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, representing the Okpe Constituency, under the People’s Democratic Party (Nigeria).
In the recent gubernatorial elections held on March 18, 2023, he emerged as the governor-elect of Delta State and was officially declared as the governor on March 20, 2023.
Early Life and EducationÂ
Sheriff Oborevwori, born in Osubi town, Delta State, Nigeria, comes from the family of Chief Samuel and Mrs. Esther Oborevwori.
He began his early education at Alegbo Primary School and completed his secondary education at Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki.
In 2004, he graduated from Ambrose Ali University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Later, in 2010, he obtained a master’s degree in political science from Delta State University Abraka.
Oborevwori has also pursued further education, completing the Alliance Manchester Business School’s Leadership Executive Certificate Programme and the London School of Economics and Political Science’s certificate programme on Leading Inclusive Development.

Sheriff Oborevwori’s political career began at the grassroots level, where he served as the Chairman of the Okpe Community.
However, he gained prominence in 2015 when he was elected as the representative for Okpe State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, running under the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP).
Prior to this, he had dedicated 19 years to various important government positions, starting as a Councillor in 1996.
On May 11, 2017, he was elected as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly after the impeachment of the previous Speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya.
In 2019, he was re-elected for a second term as Speaker, following his victory in the elections to represent his constituency, the Okpe State Constituency, in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Sheriff Oborevwori has been recognized for his achievements and contributions in various professional fields. He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and the Chartered Management Consultant Chartered Institute of Management Consultants in Canada.
Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Institute Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. In May 2018, he received the Legislative Icon Award from the National Association of Nigerian Students for his support of educational programs and scholarships in Delta State.

Sheriff Oborevwori is happily married to Mrs. Oborevwori Tobore. However, their lives took a terrifying turn in May 2011 when Mrs. Oborevwori was reportedly abducted by gunmen while traveling along Osubi road in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
Thankfully, the culprits were apprehended and justice was served as they were sentenced to 21 years imprisonment for their heinous act.
