T-Mobile Strikes Deal to Acquire Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile

T-Mobile US Inc. has announced a plan to acquire the budget wireless provider, Mint Mobile.

Ka’ena Corporation, parent company to prepaid wireless brands Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile as well as wireless wholesaler Plum, has been sold for a maximum of $1.35 billion in a cash and stock deal.

Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, is excited to help supercharge the successful direct-to-consumer business with its own scale and owners’ economics.

Ryan Reynolds will remain with the company as its spokesperson while Mint Mobile founders Rizwan Kassim and David Glickman will still manage their company under T-Mobile.

This deal is set to close later in 2021 with the final purchase price dependent on performance during certain time periods before and after the closing date.
