President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, marking a significant leadership shift in the sector, NaijNaira can report.
The announcement came via a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
Babangida’s appointment is part of a wider reorganization of federal institutions aimed at driving performance and aligning leadership with national development priorities.
“Muhammad Babangida brings years of business and governance knowledge to the table,” the statement noted.
The 53-year-old holds a Business Administration degree and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University, Montreux, Switzerland.
He also completed an Executive Programme in Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
Seven others were also appointed to lead major agencies.
Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State was selected to chair the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA).
Jamilu Wada Aliyu of Kano State will head the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
These new appointments are expected to drive sector-specific reforms and improve policy outcomes across various federal agencies.
