Tottenham Injury Crisis Solanke, Maddison, Son Doubts for Bodo

Tottenham Hotspur are facing injury concerns ahead of their crucial Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday. Three key players, Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, and Heung-min Son, are all doubts for the second leg.

According to the Evening Standard, Solanke missed the 1-1 draw with West Ham after being substituted during the first leg against Bodo/Glimt. The striker has been dealing with a quad injury, but manager Ange Postecoglou is optimistic he will be available for Thursday’s match.

“Dom is improving. We left him out today, but the medical team are pretty confident he should be alright for Thursday,” Postecoglou said. Solanke will need to pass a final fitness test before being confirmed for the game.

Maddison is another major concern for Spurs. After scoring a key goal in the first leg against Bodo/Glimt, the midfielder tweaked his knee and missed the match against West Ham.

Postecoglou revealed on Friday that Maddison underwent a scan to assess the injury. The manager expressed his worries about Maddison’s recovery, stating, “It doesn’t look great, but we’re just waiting for further information.”

Son has missed the last five games due to a foot injury, though he has returned to training. While there is hope that he will be fit for Thursday’s match, Postecoglou did not confirm whether Son would be ready.

“Sonny is working hard. He’s out on the grass every day. We’ll see how he’s going by Thursday,” Postecoglou added. Tottenham will assess Son’s condition in the days leading up to the game.

Unfortunately, Spurs have also been dealt with the loss of young midfielder Lucas Bergvall for the remainder of the season. Bergvall injured his ankle ligaments in training just before the first leg against Bodo/Glimt.

The teenager had been in great form and had just signed a new six-year contract with the club. He is now expected to be sidelined until June 2025.

Radu Dragusin also remains out after undergoing surgery for an ACL injury earlier in the season. Dragusin will not return before the end of the current campaign, with a potential return date set for June 2025.

Tottenham’s injury woes are mounting as they prepare for the decisive second leg in Norway. The availability of Solanke, Maddison, and Son will be crucial for their hopes of advancing in the Europa League.
