Fabio Paratici, Tottenham Hotspur’s managing director of football, has resigned from his position at the club due to a worldwide ban on certain football-related activities imposed by FIFA.
The ban was initially issued by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and extended globally by FIFA.
Paratici’s resignation will allow him to focus on his legal position in relation to the FIGC and FIFA rulings.
A club statement reads: “FIFA ruled to extend the ban worldwide and, whilst there continues to be a dispute as to the scope and extent of the ban, the current worldwide ban prevents Fabio from fulfilling his duties as our managing director of football. Fabio has consequently taken the decision to resign from his position at the Club with immediate effect to focus on his legal position in respect of the FIGC and FIFA rulings.”
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expressed his support for Paratici and wished him well.
The club has already started restructuring its football operations and recently appointed Scott Munn as Chief Football Officer.
Tottenham is currently vying for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League and is searching for a new manager following the departure of Antonio Conte in March.
