Turkey's MIT Intelligence Agency Kills Suspected ISIS Leader in Syria

Turkey’s MIT intelligence agency has announced the killing of the suspected leader of ISIS, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi, in a recent operation in Syria.

The operation was carried out in Jindires, a northwest region of Afrin, with the help of local military police and Turkish intelligence agents.

The area had been sealed off, and an abandoned farm that was being used as an Islamic school was targeted.

Turkey has had troops deployed in northern Syria since 2020 and controls entire zones with the help of Syrian auxiliaries.

The United States also carried out a helicopter raid in northern Syria in mid-April, killing a senior leader of the ISIS group, Abd-al Hadi Mahmud al-Haji Ali.

Despite having been driven out of much of the territory it once controlled, ISIS still launches attacks in Syria.
