The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning regarding a batch of unhealthy Sprite 50cl glass bottles that have been found in circulation in Nigeria.
This discovery was made after a consumer complaint was received and investigated by the post-marketing surveillance unit of the Agency.
Upon investigation, it was found that over five crates of the implicated batch of Sprite 50cl glass bottles were contaminated with particles.
The affected batch has been sampled for laboratory analysis in the NAFDAC laboratory, and the Agency has instructed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct surveillance and remove the contaminated batch from the market.
Additionally, a comprehensive inspection of the manufacturing site will be carried out to determine the cause of the contamination and ensure compliance with marketing authorization.
The Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (Abuja plant) has been directed to recall the affected batch and report to NAFDAC for monitoring purposes.
