Organised Labour May Rethink Planned Protest

The Organised Labour is considering the possibility of reevaluating its planned nationwide protest, which was originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

This decision was hinted at by Emma Ugbaja, the Secretary of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), following the conclusion of the Presidential Steering Committee on Palliatives meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Ugbaja expressed that while President Bola Tinubu’s announced measures on Monday evening were appreciated, they did not go far enough.

As a result, the Labour team will consult with the organizations they represent to reach a consensus on the next course of action.

The initial purpose of the protest was to demand a reversal of the recent fuel price and electricity tariff increases, as well as other economic measures implemented by the government.
