Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian forward, had an impressive season in the 2022-2023 league, finishing as the 5th highest goalscorer in Europe’s top five leagues.
He scored 26 league goals for Napoli, helping them win the Italian Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
Osimhen was also awarded the best striker of the season and became the first African to win the golden boot in Italy, breaking George Weah’s record as the African player with the highest number of goals in Serie A.
Despite finishing 5th on the list of the top ten highest goalscorers in Europe’s top five leagues, Osimhen’s performance was outstanding.
Erling Haaland topped the list with 36 league goals, followed by Harry Kane with 30 goals and Kylian Mbappe with 29 goals.
Alexandre Lacazette finished 4th with 27 goals, just one step ahead of Osimhen.
Other players on the list include Jonathan David, Robert Lewandowski, Lautaro Martinez, Folarin Balogun, and Lois Openda.
