Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State after his victory at the state’s election petition tribunal.
The tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, upheld Okpebholo’s election, rejecting the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidate, Asue Ighodalo, over a lack of evidence.
Wike, expressing confidence in Okpebholo’s leadership, urged him to stay focused. He encouraged the governor not to be distracted by those attempting to gain power through the back door.
In his statement, Wike said, “I believe in him, and with the way he has started, I believe that his government will impact positively on Edo State and its people.”
Governor Okpebholo, in his own response, described the tribunal’s decision as a win for democracy and a victory for the people of Edo State.
According to Legit.ng, Wike’s message was a show of strong support for the governor, encouraging him to keep delivering on his promises to the people of Edo State.
