Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has warned the Police Command ahead of the 2023 general elections to carry out their duties effectively or risk being replaced, Channels TV reported.

With the possibility of violence looming in the state during the elections, Wike urged the police to stay true to their mandate, noting that he would motion for a neighborhood watch if they fail to do so.

At a PDP campaign rally on Wednesday, February 1st in Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Wike spoke emphatically against police backing those who break laws and warned against a hot-cold stance with regard to enforcing regulations.

He implored them to carry out their duties actively or risk having another security outfit take over policing duties in Rivers State.
