Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi took to social media to share his joy and banter with his Leicester City teammate, Stephy Mavididi, following Nigeria’s thrilling victory against South Africa in the semi-final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The match between Nigeria and South Africa was a nail-biting encounter, with both teams giving their all.

After a goalless first half, Nigeria took the lead when William Troost-Ekong converted a penalty won by Victor Osimhen.

However, a VAR review denied Nigeria a second goal in the 88th minute due to a foul in their own box.

South Africa was awarded a penalty, which was successfully converted by Teboho Mokoena, taking the game into extra time and eventually penalties.

Despite being ruled out of the AFCON due to an injury, Ndidi couldn’t contain his excitement and shared videos of himself rejoicing on social media.

In one of the videos, Ndidi playfully bantered with Mavididi, who hails from DR Congo but represents England.

Mavididi jokingly commented that the Super Eagles were embarrassing because of their dance moves.

Ndidi quickly responded, reminding Mavididi that his country, DR Congo, had danced their way to the third-place match instead of the final.

Nigeria will now face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the AFCON on Sunday, while South Africa will compete against DR Congo for the third-place position.
