20 Super Eagles Land in London for Ghana Clash

Twenty Super Eagles players have arrived in London as preparations begin for Nigeria’s opening match in the 2025 Unity Cup.

NaijNaira learnt to the squad touched down ahead of their highly anticipated encounter against Ghana at the Gtech Community Stadium on May 28. The Unity Cup, which runs from May 27 to 31, features Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago in a four-nation football event.

Europe-Based Stars Boost Nigeria’s Squad

Nigeria’s camp in London features a mix of foreign-based professionals and home-grown talents. Among the top European-based arrivals are Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Frank Onyeka, Semi Ajayi, Cyriel Dessers, and Nathan Tella.

Team captain Ahmed Musa arrived early and is joined by Felix Agu and Igho Ogbu, who both bring defensive options to the team.

Nine home-based players also made the squad, including Junior Nduka, Sadiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojetoye, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Papa Mustapha, Saviour Isaac, Collins Ugwueze, Sikiru Alimi, and Abubakar Adamu.

Six More Players Expected to Join

The squad is still awaiting the arrival of six key players. First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is expected, along with Maduka Okoye, Amas Obasogie, defender Chrisantus Uche, winger Samuel Chukwueze, and forward Tolu Arokodare.

Training is already underway in London, with head coach Eric Chelle leading tactical drills ahead of the Ghana showdown.

“We are preparing with a clear goal in mind—to give everything against Ghana and make Nigerians proud,” said a member of the Super Eagles’ backroom staff.
