FIFA, the governing body of world football, has announced that the prize money for the 2023 World Cup will be paid directly to the players without any third-party involvement.

This decision comes in response to the unpaid allowance issues faced by the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

The coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, had previously revealed that some players were owed per diem and bonuses from two years ago.

In a viral video, FIFA secretary-general Fatma Samoura acknowledged the challenges faced by the Falcons and expressed her concern.

She stated that FIFA will be monitoring the distribution of match bonuses to ensure that they reach the players directly.

Samoura also mentioned that the prize money has been ring-fenced for the first time in FIFA’s history to ensure that it goes to the Super Falcons.
