Kelechi Iheanacho reminded everyone of his quality once again as he found the net in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Crvenda Zvezda in the UEFA Europa League – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The match took place in Belgrade where Brendan Rodgers initially kept Iheanacho on the bench and opted for Daizen Maeda to start up front.
According to Imago, that gamble did not click, as Celtic’s first-half play lacked sharpness in attack despite controlling the tempo of the game.
Rodgers eventually made the switch after the break, bringing on Iheanacho to lift his side’s attacking edge.
It took the Nigerian forward just ten minutes on the pitch to break the deadlock with a well-placed finish after collecting a clever ball from Benjamin Nygren.
The strike in the 55th minute sent Celtic fans wild, as Iheanacho calmly guided the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
Crvenda Zvezda, however, hit back quickly when Marko Arnautovic leveled matters in the 65th minute, leaving both teams to settle for a draw.
This latest goal means Iheanacho has now been directly involved in three consecutive Celtic matches.
He opened his account with a debut strike against Kilmarnock and added an assist in the following game against Partick Thistle.
“Iheanacho has given me something to think about,” Brendan Rodgers admitted, as pressure grows on him to start the Super Eagles star over Maeda.
