APC Governors Visit Buhari as Party Faces Major Defections

On Monday, April 7, 2025, APC governors gathered for a closed-door meeting with former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna home.

The meeting was led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who is also the Chairman of the APC Governors Forum.

According to Naija News, the purpose of the visit was to check on Buhari’s well-being and to demonstrate the unity of the APC, especially in light of recent defections within the party.

Uzodimma described the former president as the “father of the APC,” a title that emphasizes Buhari’s significant role in shaping the party.

He also stated that the governors’ visit was a symbol of their commitment to Buhari, who was instrumental in the founding and growth of the APC.

“We came to pay former President Muhammadu Buhari a courtesy visit,” Uzodimma explained.

The timing of the visit was especially meaningful, following the conclusion of Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Uzodimma shared that the governors were pleased to find Buhari in good health, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to meet with him.

Despite recent defections, including the departure of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Uzodimma emphasized that the APC remains strong and united.

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani also praised Buhari for his ongoing support of the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
