Falz quits Christianity, fornication not a sin, Falz religion

Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has sparked fresh debate after declaring that fornication is not a sin under his new belief system. The entertainer made this known through a series of posts and a follow-up interview, where he further stated that he no longer identifies as a Christian.

According to a recent interview with Arise TV, Falz explained that his statement was misunderstood as being rooted in Christian doctrine. Instead, he emphasized that it reflects the principles of what he refers to as the “religion of love.”

“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity,” he said. “I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin.”

The controversy began after Falz posted on X (formerly Twitter), asserting that fornication is not sinful. The comment quickly attracted criticism, particularly from religious followers who responded with biblical and Quranic arguments opposing his viewpoint.

Falz stood by his position in the interview, expressing confusion about why premarital sex is widely condemned. He questioned the logic behind its prohibition, especially when it’s between two consenting adults.

“Because I looked at it, I strictly addressed the issue: Why are we not allowed to engage in this premarital intercourse? What is the issue? Who does it offend?” he asked during the Falz interview on Arise TV. “These are not married people. These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there.”

The artist concluded by affirming that his views stem from his spiritual shift away from Christianity.

“I’m no longer a Christian. I practice religion of love,” he declared.

This statement has continued to draw reactions online, with many questioning the implications of a public figure like Falz quitting Christianity, especially while challenging long-standing religious norms.
