Henry Onyekuru may be heading back to Turkey as Gaziantep FK opens talks with the Super Eagles forward over a possible deal, NaijNaira can report.

The Turkish side has entered early negotiations with the Nigerian winger, who is currently without a club after leaving Saudi outfit Al Fayha.

Onyekuru spent two years in Saudi Arabia, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists before injuries severely limited his playing time last season.

He featured just four times in the entire 2024/25 campaign, totaling only 147 minutes on the pitch.

Despite his injury setback, Onyekuru remains well-regarded in Turkey, thanks to successful spells at Galatasaray and Adana Demirspor.

During his time at Galatasaray, he won the league title and became the club’s highest-scoring Nigerian before Victor Osimhen surpassed him in Europe.

Gaziantep FK has shown serious intent, although talks are still at the early stages with no deal agreed on wages or personal terms.

“He’s taking his time and looking at every offer,” a source close to the player told local media.

Başakşehir and Beşiktaş have also made moves, but both failed to meet his financial expectations.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, now linked to Beşiktaş, had shown interest, but the club’s bid didn’t go far.

Clubs from the UAE and at least two more Saudi teams are also reportedly in the mix.

The former Everton man, who missed out on Premier League action due to work permit issues, played a part in Nigeria’s bronze finish at the 2019 AFCON.

Onyekuru is now officially a free agent and expected to decide on his next club soon as the new season approaches.
