Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to sell Thomas Partey to Serie A club

According to reports, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is considering selling midfielder Thomas Partey as part of his plans to overhaul the team’s midfield this summer.

Arteta is reportedly targeting West Ham’s Declan Rice as his top choice, along with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and potential free agent Ilkay Gundogan.

To raise funds for new additions, Arsenal is expected to conduct a fire-sale, with Granit Xhaka already set to make a £15million move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Partey, who turns 30 next month, has reportedly been benched for three games in a row and his form dropped off during the run-in.

Two Serie A clubs are said to be keeping tabs on his situation, and Arsenal may be open to selling him just three years after activating his £45m release clause.

The club is expected to offload a host of players, including Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Emile Smith Rowe, and players who have spent the season on loan.

Arsenal will need to assemble a significant warchest to give Arteta the backing he desires, with West Ham reportedly wanting a British record fee in excess of £100m for Rice, and Brighton rejecting bids of £70m for Caicedo in the January window.
