Arsenal have rejected a “substantial” bid from Chelsea for Katie McCabe, confirming the Republic of Ireland captain’s status in the game.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea made the offer ahead of the transfer window closing on Tuesday but the London club are unwilling to sell the player to their Super League title rivals.

McCabe joined Arsenal from Shelbourne in December 2015 and has since become an important member of their side, having made 100 Super League appearances so far and being named Player of the Year after an outstanding 2020-21 season.

With just 18 months left on her contract, she is open to discussing a move with Emma Hayes’ Chelsea if they can make it happen by Tuesday.
