Atiku Appears in Court for Presidential Election Petition Against Tinubu

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appeared in the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja to observe the proceedings of the case he filed challenging the outcome of the 2023 Presidential Election.

Atiku and his party are contesting the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the presidential election.

One of the major reliefs being sought by Atiku is the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return issued to Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Atiku arrived at the courtroom in the company of his friends and well-wishers, including Senator Dino Melaye, the PDP candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State, Acting National Chairman of PDP Ambassador Illiya Damagun and Liyel Imoke.

The pre-hearing session of the petition was scheduled to continue before Justice Haruna Tsammani-led’s five-member panel, and Atiku had earlier filed an application for live coverage of day-to-day proceedings on his petition.
