Gail Fajembola, a well-known Lagos socialite, has dragged the Nigeria Police Force to court, demanding ₦50 million in damages over alleged harassment and rights violations, NaijNaira can report.

The case, filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos, centers on an ongoing civil dispute involving a luxury apartment at Ocean Parade Towers, Banana Island. As reported by PUNCH, Fajembola claims the police are being used to intimidate her on behalf of businessman Tunde Ayeni and a real estate firm.

In suit FHC/L/CS/2025, her lawyer Akin Apara argues that the police have no legal grounds to interfere in a personal property disagreement.

The named respondents include the Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, and private parties involved in the dispute.

“Any attempt or threat by the police to arrest, detain, or otherwise interfere with my liberty is unconstitutional and an abuse of power,” Fajembola stated.

She’s asking the court for a perpetual injunction to stop further police involvement in what she insists is a private matter.

Fajembola also wants the court to declare the use of police to settle personal grievances as a violation of her rights.

The issue began when Ayeni allowed her to live in the apartment in 2016, and she reportedly spent $45,792 furnishing it before relocating to the UK in 2019.

The apartment was later leased to Expand Global Industries Ltd with Ayeni’s verbal approval, she said.

Following their falling-out, she claims Ayeni turned to the police to force her, her agent, and the tenant out.

“The police summoned us and harassed us. I was never arrested or detained,” she told the court.

Fajembola said she officially handed the property back in April 2025 but continues to face threats and damaging media reports.

She claims the situation has made it unsafe for her to return to Lagos and caused mental distress.

Meanwhile, Olutoyl Estate Development & Services Ltd filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police, accusing her of leasing out the apartment without consent.

The petition alleges Fajembola collected over ₦100 million in rent through her company, GIF Energy Resources Ltd.

“She was given access purely out of compassion, not to profit from it,” the petition reads.

The document, received by the IGP’s office on June 17, accuses her of fraud and reputational harm to the estate firm.
