Napoli have reportedly agreed to sell Victor Osimhen to Al-Ahli, but Chelsea remain interested in signing the striker on deadline day.
Despite the advanced negotiations with Al-Ahli, Chelsea still have a chance to secure Osimhen’s signature, although the likelihood is diminishing as the 11pm deadline approaches.
Chelsea made a last-minute bid for Osimhen, offering an initial loan with an obligation to buy the Nigerian forward next summer.
However, the move hinges on Osimhen agreeing to wages that fit within Chelsea’s new financial structure.
Talks with Napoli have been ongoing for weeks, but Osimhen’s future remains uncertain.
Chelsea’s attempt to clinch this high-priority forward saw co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart travel to Napoli on Thursday night.
Alongside controlling co-owner Behdad Eghbali, the directors have been deeply involved in negotiations.
Osimhen’s recent contract with Napoli complicates matters.
Having signed just nine months ago, the striker has, however, been pushing for an exit since then.
As the transfer window closes, Osimhen’s decision will likely dominate the final hours.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have other forward targets in mind, including Ivan Toney and Jhon Duran.
They also came close to signing Samu Omorodion, but the deal collapsed, and he moved to Porto.
Additionally, Jonathan David was considered for a potential transfer.
