Tino Livramento transfer news Ola Aina Manchester City links Kyle Walker replacement

Manchester City are looking to sign Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento as a replacement for outgoing defender Kyle Walker, according to reports. This puts an end to speculation linking the club with a move for Nigeria international Ola Aina.

Aina, who has had his best season yet with Nottingham Forest, was previously tipped for a move to City or Liverpool after an outstanding campaign. His contributions helped Forest climb to 7th place in the Premier League with one game remaining—an away fixture against Chelsea.

Earlier in the season, it seemed possible that Aina could head to Manchester as a long-term solution at right-back. However, with Walker now confirmed to leave, City’s focus has shifted firmly toward Livramento.

“Livramento is City’s number one target to replace Walker,” transfer insider Fabrizio Romano stated.

The 22-year-old has featured in 36 of Newcastle’s 37 league games this season and fits City’s criteria perfectly—homegrown, young, and experienced at the top level. His age and nationality play key roles, with Manchester City seeking to strengthen their English core.

In contrast, Aina, 28, has proven reliable, fast, and strong in one-on-one situations. Still, his age may be a limiting factor for a club looking to rebuild with younger talent.

While Aina’s contract at Forest was set to expire this summer, a one-year extension clause has been triggered after the team secured top-flight survival. Talks are ongoing for a longer-term deal, though no final agreement has been reached.

For now, Aina looks likely to stay at the City Ground, while City turn their attention north to St. James’ Park.
