Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has warned his former side against signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is currently without a club after his contract at Manchester United was terminated prematurely.
The veteran striker’s deal was ripped apart after he had an explosive interview with British journalist Piers Morgan and hit out at the club’s top brass.
A section of Gunners fans have urged the club to make a January transfer move for Ronaldo as a cover for Gabriel Jesus, who is set to spend a couple of weeks on the sidelines with an injury.
Despite Ronaldo’s advanced age, some Arsenal supporters contend the Portuguese still has a lot to offer at the top level.
However, Winterburn, a former Arsenal star has cautioned the Premier League club against making a transfer move for Ronaldo.
The former left-back argued that the Portugal international would find it difficult to fit into the Gunners’ playing system.
“I think Arsenal would have to change their style of play to bring him in, and I think that move would be a complete disaster,” he added.
