Cristiano Ronaldo Reportedly Threatened Agent Over Transfer To Champions League Club

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly threatened to sever his ties with agent Jorge Mendes if the latter failed to secure him a move to one of two Champions League clubs.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner eventually joined Saudi Pro League’s Al Nassr earlier this month, a move that was preceded by an acrimonious ending to his second spell at Manchester United, in which Ronaldo criticized the club’s hierarchy and manager Eric Ten Hag during a controversial interview with TalkTV while he was still with United.

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Ronaldo had given Mendes an ultimatum: get him to either Chelsea or Bayern Munich or their relationship was over.

Although Chelsea owner Todd Boehly had attempted to make a splash in the transfer market by showing interest in Ronaldo, current manager Thomas Tuchel decided against it because it did not fit his team’s strategy.

Meanwhile, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn publicly announced that they were not going for a move for Ronaldo despite considering it; citing their “clear philosophy of how squad should be put together.”

Ultimately it was reported that both clubs notified Mendes they would not be trying for Ronaldo and that he achieved everything he set out to do in Europe before sealing his switch away from the continent.
