Jude Bellingham has branded Kai Havertz’s second penalty re-take at Stamford Bridge as “a joke” after Borussia Dortmund crashed out of the Champions League against Chelsea.
The Blues advanced through to the quarter-finals following a 2-0 win in the second leg of the last 16 clash, courtesy of Raheem Sterling’s first-half opener and Havertz’s late penalty conversion after it had been retaken due to encroachment.
This decision frustrated Bellingham, who spoke to BT Sport about it post-match: “I’m not sure what more he can do with his hand,” he said about the penalty incident involving Marius Wolf.
“That in itself was disappointing and the fact that they’ve had a retake, I think it’s a joke.
Even though Edin Terzic refrained from any complaints post-game, claiming “we didn’t speak about the referee a lot last week and we won’t start with that tonight”, Bellingham felt otherwise.
