Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has sharply criticized his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of blindly defending President Bola Tinubu while allegedly benefiting from selective federal reimbursements and grants exceeding N150 billion.
In a statement shared on social media, El-Rufai questioned the motives behind Sani’s unwavering loyalty to the presidency, suggesting that the significant financial support received by Kaduna over the past 18 months might explain the governor’s stance.
El-Rufai expressed his disbelief at Sani’s behavior, describing his defense of the president as sycophantic and embarrassing.
“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why. However, confirming that Federal Government ‘reimbursements, interventions, and grants’ in excess of N150bn have been given selectively to Kaduna by Tinubu in the last 18 months, now explains everything,” El-Rufai stated.
While El-Rufai acknowledged Sani’s right to defend Tinubu’s economic policies, he reminded the governor that the people of Kaduna would ultimately decide the outcome at the right time.
The tension between the two political figures has heightened speculation about the growing rift between them, with many analysts predicting a possible political confrontation in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections.
El-Rufai’s comments have only fueled the speculation, suggesting that a showdown may be on the horizon.
