Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has petitioned INEC to not issue a Certificate of Return to Gboyega Oyetola following the judgement by the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal to remove Adeleke from office.
According to reports, Adeleke challenged the majority decision of two judges against one which ordered for a Certificate of Return to be withdrawn from him and handed over to Gboyega Oyetola.
In order for his appeal to be heard, he requested that INEC defer issuing any certificate till this was dealt with.
On behalf of the Governor, lawyer Hashim Abioye wrote a letter confirming that an application was being made in accordance with provisions in the Electoral Act 2022.
