Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst stormed off the training pitch after a clash with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber during a Netherlands training session.
The incident occurred as the national team prepared for their Nations League match against Germany on Tuesday.
The altercation prompted Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman to step in and separate the two players.
Koeman addressed both Weghorst and Timber, stating, ‘I said something to you, I said something to them,’ in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Despite Koeman’s intervention, Weghorst continued to express his frustration, leading the coach to firmly declare, ‘and now it’s over!’
Following the training session, Weghorst immediately left the pitch and removed his training shirt, clearly still agitated.
The 32-year-old recently joined Ajax after a loan spell at Manchester United in 2023.
He has scored 13 goals in 40 appearances for the Netherlands since his international debut in 2018.
On the other side, Jurrien Timber has recently returned to the Netherlands squad after over a year of absence due to recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Koeman later confirmed that Weghorst had not sustained any injuries from the incident and was fit to play.
