There is reportedly tension within the G7 or G6 camp, following the visit of Tajudeen Abbas to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari in France.

Abbas is being backed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President-elect to become the 10th Speaker of the House of Representatives.

However, other aspirants are concerned that they may lose out in the power game if Abbas is elected.

Some members are reportedly unhappy that Abbas was given undue attention over and above them, with some feeling that they should have been invited to meet with APC leader Bola Tinubu in France.

Despite this, some members are said to be waiting for the main group of Abbas to invite them to a meeting, after which they will fall in line.

Meanwhile, one aspirant, Betara Aliyu, has vowed to contest the election, despite being persuaded to step down for the current Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, in 2019.
