Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has issued a statement clarifying that Folorunso Alakija, the chancellor of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), was not affected by the dissolution of the university’s governing council.
The governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, stated that the position of the chancellor is separate from the governing council and that Alakija is contributing significantly to the growth and development of the university.
Alakija was appointed as UNIOSUN chancellor in 2016 by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola and was reappointed in 2021 by immediate past Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The dissolution of the council, which included the Pro-chancellor Yusuf Ali and other members, was announced by the Osun State head of service on Friday.
