Nigeria’s former aide to the President, Reno Omokri revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari helped protect the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele from being manhandled by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Accessing his Twitter account, Omokri praised the President for intervening and ensuring that the rule of law was preserved.
Earlier in the day, there had been a commotion at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when DSS officials attempted to physically restrain Emefiele.
The CBN governor’s office at Abuja Headquarters also received a visit from DSS operatives as there has been an on-going altercation between him and them over terrorism financing.
Some reports suggested that the secret police had sought a court order to place him under arrest due to his absence during the annual leave, although they have since denied this.
