According to Jonny Baxter, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, the United Kingdom issued approximately 132,000 visas to Nigerians in the first half of this year.
These visas include visit, work, and study visas.
However, Baxter did not provide the total number of applications received from Nigerians during this period.
In the previous year, the UK issued around 324,000 visas, with 10% of them being granted to Nigerians.
This is a relatively higher proportion considering Nigeria’s population compared to the rest of the world.
The UK values and welcomes Nigerian students, with Nigeria being the second-largest source of foreign students after India.
It is important for individuals to follow and respect the country’s rules when coming to the UK through legal routes.
