Erik ten Hag has informed Mason Greenwood via a private phone call that his chances of re-joining the Manchester United first team rest solely with the club and not himself.
This is understood to be Ten Hag’s first formal conversation with the 21-year-old forward following his exoneration by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on February 2nd.
Although Greenwood has yet to feature for United since January 2022, Ten Hag has evidently established contact in order to confirm how Greenwood is feeling and provide clarity over his current position at Old Trafford.
A source recently detailed a personalised phone call between them, saying “The manager enquired how he was feeling physically and mentally and said he was pleased the charges had been dropped”.
Meanwhile United have initiated its own internal investigation into this matter, stating that it will not deliver any further comment until it has been completed.
The popular winger’s current contract is due to expire on June 2025 but Nike have already announced that they will not be resuming their prior partnership.
