American actor Jaafar Jackson will be playing his uncle, the legendary pop star Michael Jackson, in the upcoming biopic about the singer.
This announcement was made on Monday by movie director Antoine Fuqua who posted a picture of Jaafar’s transformation on Instagram.
He captioned it, “Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael—the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop.”
Jaafar also posted the same image and expressed his excitement for this project, saying “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.
To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.” The movie which is titled ‘Michael’ will cover various high and low points from Jackson’s life including his most iconic performances.
Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson shared her delight with this development in a statement, saying: “Jafaar embodies my son…It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers.”
Jaafar is the son of Michael’s eldest brother Jermaine who was part of The Jackson Five band along with Michael at Motown Records.
