Renowned composer Jim Parker, known for his work on television programs such as Midsomer Murders and House of Cards, has passed away at the age of 88.

Throughout his 60-year career, Parker collaborated with various artists and musicians, including poet Sir John Betjeman, comedian Victoria Wood, and rock band Procol Harum.

He was highly respected and well-liked within the music and television industry, known for his memorable theme tunes and unwavering commitment to his craft.

Parker’s music career began as an oboist in the British Army before he went on to join the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Barrow Poets.

He wrote several musicals and his concert pieces have become part of the wind and brass repertoire.
