Spain’s Real Madrid legend Guti Hernandez has recently notified long-term resident and veteran midfielder Luka Modric that he is no longer required at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund expected to be brought in as a replacement.
Modric, 37, was instrumental in guiding Croatia to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has been an ever-present for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, accruing 22 appearances thus far.
His current deal ends in June 2021 and Los Blancos are reportedly taking interest in both Enzo Fernandez and the aforementioned Bellingham as potential alternatives.
On El Chiringuito TV, Guti remarked “Regarding renewals at Real Madrid, I think Benzema will stay. However, I have my doubts regarding Luka Modric.
“He won’t have his place next term; Los Blancos don’t require him anymore.”
It remains unclear if it’ll be Bellingham or maybe another midfielder that shall join, but at some point, he’s going to need to leave.
