Nigeria’s President Buhari mourns Pope Benedict XVI

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his deep sympathies to Pope Francis, the Catholic Church in Nigeria and beyond, and every Christian mourning the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Mr Buhari honoured Pope Benedict for his commitment to promote religious dialogue and amity.

He went on to state that the late pontiff will be remembered for having employed his spiritual gifts to serve God and humanity, acting out what it meant to be a true follower of Christ.

Furthermore, President Buhari prayed for the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to rest in the tender embrace of Heaven, for serving faithfully all throughout his vocation.
