Peter Obi has taken aim at President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the economy, saying the country’s worsening hunger crisis can’t be hidden behind false data — www.naijnaira.com reports.

In a Monday statement shared via his X account, Obi referenced a 2022 campaign event where Tinubu dismissed economic figures, saying, “Na statistics we go chop?” and promised to prioritize feeding the people. Sahara Reporters first covered Obi’s remarks.

Obi argued that almost two years later, Nigerians are still grappling with extreme hunger, while the government paints a misleading picture with questionable statistics.

“Nigeria is now among the hungriest countries in the world,” Obi said. “Millions are unsure where their next meal will come from.”

He accused the administration of pushing flawed data on inflation, unemployment, and GDP to mask the impact of harsh living conditions across households.

Obi pointed out that this attempt to create a false sense of stability only worsens public trust in leadership.

“Governance isn’t gambling or rocket science,” he added. “It demands sincerity, empathy, and capacity.”

Obi ended his message by restating his belief in a transformed Nigeria, echoing his familiar phrase: “A new Nigeria is POssible.”
